Step-by-Step: Setting Up TakeControl on macOS

Follow these steps so that a MEIDIT IT engineer can securely connect to your Mac.

1. Download the “TakeControl” application to your Mac

Download the official “TakeControl” support file for Mac computers (macOS).

2. Extract and launch the application

Open the downloaded .zip file and launch the “TakeControl” application. If needed, you can move it to the Applications folder.

CRITICAL STEP (macOS Permissions)

3. Crucial Step: Grant the required macOS permissions to “TakeControl”

To allow the MEIDIT IT technician to connect and perform diagnostics properly, grant the application the following permissions:

1. Accessibility

Allows the technician to remotely control your mouse and keyboard. Where to find it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility

2. Screen Recording

Allows the technician to see your computer screen during the remote support session. Where to find it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording

3. Full Disk Access

Provides additional access to files and system information required for more detailed diagnostics. Where to find it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access

4. Contact the MEIDIT IT technician

Once you have launched the “TakeControl” application, contact the MEIDIT IT technician by phone. The technician will connect to your computer and perform the necessary work.
